Designed for Additive and Smart Manufacturing

Smart Manufacturing is the cutting-edge research of the current era as IOT based applications are well in demand globally. This group at DME, NUST focuses on manufacturing through smart, sustainable, and additive technologies that redefine industry standards and enable global innovations. This includes analyzing the multi-material and multi-scale additive manufacturing (AM) to expand design possibilities and improve processes which are the key factors for the future leaders. Also, it includes analysis of different strategies to accelerate AM processes, such as developing new materials or optimizing existing ones to improve the surface finish, dimensional accuracy, and mechanical properties of AM printed. The researchers of this group also working for the widespread adoption of Industry 5.0 technologies, transforming the manufacturing industry into a highly connected, automated, and efficient sector.
  • Material Development for Additive Manufacturing (AM)
  • Multi-Material Printing
  • Process/Topology Optimization
  • Lattice-based manufacturing
  • Composite and functionally graded structures
