Dr Muhammad Nafees Mumtaz Qadri is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Aerospace Engineering at the School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering (SMME), NUST, H-12 campus. His research interests are Computational & Experimental Fluid Dynamics, Biomimetic (including Flapping Wing) Aerodynamics, Fluid Structure Interaction (FSI), Renewable Energy and Flow Control. Some of his ongoing research/projects are as follows; • Design and development of bio-inspired flapping wing MAVs. • Computational and experimental Analysis of Energy Harvesting through Flapping Wings. • Effect of flexibility on the Energy Harvesting Performance of a Flapping Wing based Energy Harvester. • Parametric Study, including Foil Morphology on the Energy Harvesting Performance of a Flapping Foil Energy Harvester. • Study of different insect wings (geometry, kinematics, and flexibility) for the design of bio-inspired flapping wing for Micro Aerial Vehicles (MAVs). • Effects of active and passive flow control techniques on the aerodynamic performance of fixed and flapping wings. • Commercial and aerospace applications of bladeless fans. • Aerodynamic and energy harvesting performance analysis of conventional and hybrid vertical axis wind turbine.
