WELCOME TO SMME

In January, 2007 the School started as Institute of Manufacturing Engineering (IME) in a hired accommodation in Sector F-11, Islamabad. The Institute was established with the funding from Islamic Development Bank. The responsibilities were given to Mr Fazal Ellahi as Acting Director of the Institute to look after the affairs of the Institute and to procure the laboratories equipment. During the same year in May 2007, Dr Abid Pervaiz Ghuman was appointed as Head of the Institute. Simultaneously, during the same month, the Institute was renamed as School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering (SMME) in order to add more diversity in the activities.

School of Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering is following NUST vision for achieving a distinguished position in the reputed world class institutions. The entire School team is looking forward to take this School to the apex of Technology and Innovation by working with renowned professionals from the universities and industry nationally and internationally. The school faculty and students interact to create, develop and implement new ideas and engineering concepts which is the essence of OBE (Outcome Based Education) System. Particularly the students have the opportunity to discover and explore new dimensions of present era Technology as they work side by side with faculty involved in the cutting-edge research and innovation.
